Be your best you. After all, you’re the only you that you have. I know that sounds like the beginning of a Dr. Seuss book or something, but it really is true. We get one go around on this Earth – one shot. So why not make sure that we’re the best version of ourselves that we can possibly be? I know that since my daughter went off to college, I’ve had a lot more time on my hands to think about that. Before she left, all of my time was devoted to making sure she got into the school of her choice. Now that it’s just me and my husband, I’m learning how to be my best. I think that’s important, and I want you to be your best you, too. Here’s how I’m doing it for myself. Maybe my story will help you be your best, as well.
How to be Your Best You
I want to start right off by saying that being your best is purely an individual thing. Being my best may involve things that being your best may not. However, there are a few things in general that we can all do to be the best versions of ourselves that we can, and that’s what I’ll be focusing on.
It’s important to remember to be grateful. Things won’t always go our way, but one thing I’ve learned is that it can always be worse. I wake up every morning and count my blessings. I literally think about all the ways my life is wonderful, and I focus on that, feeling the gratitude I have for my life, the work I do, the family I have, and even the downs that come with the ups.
Be your best you by being present. Hectic schedules, bills, and work make it hard to focus on the here and now, but it’s so important to make a real effort to be present in your life. The good times are precious and should be enjoyed. Those first steps, exciting trips, and once in a lifetime moments only come around once. Really savor them.
Being active can help you be your best you for the long haul. I’ve started taking daily walks, and I’ve been feeling much better. It’s nice to get the blood pumping, burn a few calories, and just be alone with yourself for a few minutes every day.
Make Better Choices
I’ve started making better choices in my diet, as well. I’ve cut back on the junky stuff, increased my intake of veggies, and I’ve started eating Mahatma® Organic Rice in place of corn. I love corn, but it’s pretty much devoid of anything good for me. I get Mahatma® Organic Rice at Publix, and I eat that instead. Rice is a whole grain, and it has vitamins in it that are good for me. It TASTES good, which makes it easy to stick to it and I can use the $1.00 off Any One (1) Mahatma® Organic White OR Brown Rice 2 lb. coupon!
Being frugal may not seem like a way to be your best you, but stay with me. Being frugal means fewer money concerns. Fewer money concerns mean less stress. Stress is a killer – literally. Therefore, being frugal helps you live better and live longer. I stay frugal by looking for great deals like the one coming up at Publix. Starting May 26th, Publix is helping you be your best you by offering a wide range of products that help promote a better lifestyle at a total savings value of over $60. Remember the rice I mentioned? I got it at Publix as part of their Best You initiative.
