Be your best you. After all, you’re the only you that you have. I know that sounds like the beginning of a Dr. Seuss book or something, but it really is true. We get one go around on this Earth – one shot. So why not make sure that we’re the best version of ourselves that we can possibly be? I know that since my daughter went off to college, I’ve had a lot more time on my hands to think about that. Before she left, all of my time was devoted to making sure she got into the school of her choice. Now that it’s just me and my husband, I’m learning how to be my best. How to be Your Best You
I want to start right off by saying that being your best is purely an individual thing. Being my best may involve things that being your best may not. However, there are a few things in general that we can all do to be the best versions of ourselves that we can, and that’s what I’ll be focusing on.
It’s important to remember to be grateful. Things won’t always go our way, but one thing I’ve learned is that it can always be worse. I wake up every morning and count my blessings. I literally think about all the ways my life is wonderful, and I focus on that, feeling the gratitude I have for my life, the work I do, the family I have, and even the downs that come with the ups.
Be your best you by being present. Hectic schedules, bills, and work make it hard to focus on the here and now, but it’s so important to make a real effort to be present in your life. The good times are precious and should be enjoyed. Those first steps, exciting trips, and once in a lifetime moments only come around once. Really savor them.
Being active can help you be your best you for the long haul. I’ve started taking daily walks, and I’ve been feeling much better. It’s nice to get the blood pumping, burn a few calories, and just be alone with yourself for a few minutes every day.
Make Better Choices
I’ve started making better choices in my diet, as well. I’ve cut back on the junky stuff, increased my intake of veggies, and I’ve started eating Mahatma® Organic Rice in place of corn.
