When planning a Disney vacation, one thing that most people overlook in the hurry to grab the hottest fast passes and dining reservations is the unlimited fun to be had at Disney Springs. Disney Springs is located about a mile away from the four main Disney Parks. One major attraction will be closing on New Year’s Eve this year and should not be missed… Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba. La Nouba premiered in Orlando on December 23, 1998, and will end their shows on December 31, 2017.
Cirque du Soleil had been in my bucket list for as long as I can remember! It’s recognized around the world for its breathtaking creativity and high-end artistry that many people are not exposed to on a daily basis. With prices starting at $49, it is one of the most affordable options for entertainment in Orlando and should not be missed. Performances are held Tuesday 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM. On Sundays and Mondays, there are no performances. There are also several dates where there are no shows scheduled as well as some special shows scheduled over the next few months. Because of the variety in the schedule, you should visit their website here for tickets and more specific information that may fit in with your vacation plans.
From the moment you approach the picturesque white tent housing 1,671 seats, a landmark at the newly renovated Disney Springs area, your senses are overwhelmed with the adventure that awaits you. Grab a box of popcorn or glass of wine if you wish and sit down and relax as the pre-show begins. “The clowns” that open the show and have scenes in between each of the “circus acts” within the story of La Nouba.
They set you up for a lot of laughter that is a nice break from the daring and awe that unfolds when the Cirques (Circus people) meet the Urbain (Urbanites). Every act that Cirques perform in front of you, around you, and above you is a bright and colorful display against the dreary backdrop of the Urbains existence. From people flying through the air and twirling from the sky holding onto bright red silks, bike tricks that make you gasp, trapeze artists flipping and soaring through the air, and balancing acts that make you hold your breath in anticipation…. the world of La Nouba lives up to its namesake (which comes from the French phrase “faire la Nouba”, which means “to party” or “to live it up”).
While you are at Disney Springs, make sure you see what all is available to you and your family for dining and entertainment options. We got to dine over at Splitsville Luxury Lanes after attending LaNouba. The food is excellent! From appetizers to Sushi to exquisite desserts! An entire evening of fun could be had there as well!
With 50,000 square feet of bowling, billiards, bars, and live entertainment you are sure to find something for everyone in your family. They are open Monday through Friday as early as 10:30 AM and on Saturday and Sunday at 10 AM. It is just one of the many wonderful options that Disney Springs brings to the table when planning a fun family vacation to Walt Disney World Resort.
If you are staying at a Disney resort, Disney transportation services provide free transportation between the Parks, Resorts, and the Disney Springs area! So make sure to experience this amazing show!
Thank you, Disney, for an unforgettable and Magical night and for the gorgeous tumblers!
