When I celebrate Mothers Day, it’s always a bittersweet time for me. I’ve always loved Mothers Day. It’s the day I celebrate my best friend in the world – my mother. She died a few years ago, but I still remember all the wonderful times we had together, and the puts a smile on my face.
I Celebrate Mothers Day with Memories and Coca-Cola
My mother was my best friend. I could tell her anything, and she was always there for me no matter what. I used to celebrate Mothers Day with my mom by taking the day and just doing whatever struck us. Some years, we would would do a movie marathon. Several years, we went on shopping expeditions that were wonderful. Whether we were watching movies all day, shopping, or just lounging and chit-chatting a bottle of Coca-Cola was always on hand.
My mother was the most powerful female figure in my life, and that’s why I’ve always loved to celebrate Mother’s Day. I’ll never forget a particularly bad break up I was going through. I thought I was going to die. It was THE break up. You know. The first real break up we go through as young women. My mother sat me down and told me that I could either wallow over losing someone who was obviously not good enough for me, or I could pull myself up and get the best revenge by getting over him. She was just like that. And you know what? She was right!
Now that she’s gone, I celebrate Mothers Day with my husband and daughter in much the same way. We live in Florida, so many a Mothers Day has been spent at the beach with a basket full of snacks and a cooler full of Coca-Cola. It’s a lovely feeling to hang out with my family on the just-hot-enough beach and drink an ice cold Coke. Those are the times when I think of my mother and smile.
Coca-Cola Wants to Help you Celebrate Mothers Day
Coca-Cola knows that mothers play a huge part in our lives. That’s why this year, they’re reminding us of that bond with an interactive video in which viewers can switch between the points of view of both mother and daughter throughout all the different stages of their relationship. It’s a new and wonderful way to really take in exactly how strong the bong between mother and daughter is. Take a look.
Coca-Cola has been a part of many of my favorite memories, and I’m sure it’s been a part of yours, as well. They want to continue making new memories with us all. That’s why, starting May 6th, daughters in the US and Puerto Rico can celebrate Mothers Day with their moms with an opportunity to make a free call to their mom anywhere in the world for three minutes after watching their special Mothers Day video.
We’d all love to celebrate Mothers Day everyday with a nice call to mom, but sometimes, it’s just not possible, especially if mom lives half a world away. That’s why Coca-Cola is offering this wonderful opportunity to celebrate Mothers Day for all of us. Who wouldn’t love three minutes to tell their mom just how much they mean to them?
Every year I celebrate Mothers Day with a mix of joy and sadness. I’m sad that my mother is gone, but I’ll always have those amazing memories of her and out time together. She taught me so much about being a woman, a mother, and a friend, and I’m so lucky to have had a mother like her.
