Disney: Star Tours Gives Guests First Peek at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Planet
Disney: Star Tours gave me the honor of a sneak peek at the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Planet, slated for open in 2019. It was so much fun, you guys! We got an up-close look at everything coming to the Planet, and it was AH-mazing. Disney: Star Tours allow guests to get a little taste of what the new park will have to offer, and it’s sure to be the top spot at Disney for any Star Wars lover.
On November 17, Hollywood studios’ newest Star Wars ride opened: Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! I was among the first guests invited to attend and ride aboard the Starspeeders 1000! What an honor and thrilling new journey to the farthest reaches of space! We landed unexpectedly on a planet in the outer rim of the Star Wars galaxy – a planet known to C-3PO, and now to us, as Batuu. Beware you might run into Kylo Ren!
You will be swept off your feet…guaranteed!
This remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but its prominence was bypassed by the rise of hyperspace travel. Now home to those who prefer to stay out of the mainstream, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders, and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe haven for that intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order. While Batuu may be new to all of us, it is clearly already familiar to many characters from the Star Wars saga as a stepping off point for epic adventures.
As the Disney obsessed Mamacita that I am, you know I will share more updates from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when the NEW lands open in 2019. Who’s excited?
You will want to ride this 3D, motion-simulated space flight over and over again so make sure and get your fast passes!
New Celebs, Projections & More Announced for Star Wars Galactic Nights
Another exciting and exhilarating news is that along with the new Star Tours, you will also get to see one of a kind projection show as the Hollywood Tower Hotel is transformed with state-of-the-art projections, special effects, and lighting to depict spectacular destinations from across the Star Wars galaxy.
Also lots of special appearances! Actor David Collins will appear at the event to host a special “Inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” panel discussion with members of the Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm team. The panel, will include Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering; Robin Reardon, Executive Creative Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering; Chris Beatty, Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering and Doug Chiang, VP/Creative Director at Lucasfilm, will give guests an inside look at the making of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands currently under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and park. Attendees will also get an exclusive peek into the progress being made and learn what it’s like to bring the epic saga to life in the theme parks.
