Planning for Your Future – How Prudential and Hispanicize Helped Me #Prupárate
Planning for your future is something you should be doing but probably aren’t. At least, you aren’t if you’re like most of us. This year, I once again I had the opportunity to attend Hispanicize, and I am so grateful that Prudential helped me get there as a brand ambassador. Prudential helped me get a ton of information about planning for the future.
As part of the DiMe Summit at Hispanicize, I was able to take in a presentation of The Great Girlfriends. They partnered up with Angela and Piera, DiMe co-founders to speak with us about financial responsibility, financial planning, and finding balance with our businesses and how all of them could work together to help us be more successful now and more prepared for the future.
Planning for Your Future – Whatever it May Be
Planning for your future can mean different things for different people. For me, it’s retirement. For you, it might be your child’s college education. It might be a combination of several things. After all, life is rarely simple. Whatever it may be, you need a plan in place to make that future the one you dreamed it would be. Thanks to Prudential, I learned a lot about taking control of my financial future.
Take Charge of Your Financial Life
Just like any other endeavor, managing your money takes practice, patience, and a plan. You have to do more than just want to take control of your finances. You need a plan to help get you there. That’s key. Without a plan, you’re either treading water or worse, sinking.
Start Investing Now
The younger you start investing, the better, but whatever your age, start investing now. When you invest at a young age, the magic of compound interest works in your favor. Basically, the younger you start, the more your invested money works for you.
Start Planning for Your Retirement Immediately
Just like investing, planning for your future involves an early plan to get your retirement in order. It may be tempting to spend disposable income on a new item or to pay a little bit extra on student loans, but addressing your retirement now ensures a happy, stress-free financial future.
Make Full Use of a Financial Professional
One of the biggest eye openers for me at the summit was that I really did need a financial professional to help me. Planning for your future may seem like something you can do yourself, but there are lots of ins and outs. They help you avoid self-sabotaging self-talk, and they help you reach your financial goals more efficiently.
Pay Your Bills Now WHILE You Plan for Your Future
For many of us, it feels like we have to choose between paying the bills we have now or planning for our financial future. The thing is, it’s not an either/or proposition. It’s absolutely a BOTH. Don’t give in self-sabotaging talk like “it’s impossible” or “I can’t make it all work”. Assign an easy-to-handle dollar amount for all your goals. Make it work. And remember that financial professional I just talked about? This is a great reason why you need one.
Know Your Retirement Options
Did you know that 70% of Hispanics in the United States have no retirement accounts? In most of those cases, it’s not about discipline. Rather, it’s more a case of being unfamiliar with or unaware of the various options available to them for retirement savings. There are many options out there for planning for your future, and they can all be a vital part of your future financial stability.
As a Latina mom with a daughter in college, I want to ensure that I break the cycle of that 70% and I want to keep that trend going with a daughter who knows how to take advantage of her financial planning options.
Planning for Your Future – Take Control Now
Whether you’re 20 or 60, it’s never too early or too late to start planning for your future. That’s the biggest takeaway I got from this year’s Hispanicize and my time with Prudential. Planning for the future and taking action is the only way to make it the future that YOU want it to be. Prudential helped me and the rest of my fellow Hispanicize attendees see that and – even more importantly – see that it CAN be done no matter what your financial situation might be.
Also during the excellent Dime Summit, we got the chance to enjoy “The” fashion show sponsored by Prudential! Some of the clothes featured had great tips imprinted on them as well! So not only did we get to see beautiful fashion, but we also got to absorb some important financial advice while watching the show. Check it out!
